Dye Class #1

  • The Wooly Horse 4650 Fisher Road New Vienna, OH 45159 United States (map)

Dye Class #1 will teach you the basics of hand dying wool. You will get one yard of wool, cut into 4 quarter yard pieces to experiment with and take home. Also, you will be learning to use different colors to get the effect you want. We will be using turkey roasters for this class (I use a 22 qt. to dye 1 yard of wool), but you do not need one that big for this class. The roaster needs to be the type that you plug in and heats on its own, so start looking at thrift shops and yard sales for used turkey roasters! Turkey roasters can be shared, but to get more individualized experience, bring your own turkey roaster. Crockpots will not be used for this class, they take too long to heat up! Bring a project along to work on while you are waiting on your wool to giggle!!! There will be lots of dye colors available to choose from.

If you want to get started hand dying your own wool, this is the class for you! Come join us for a day of learning, fellowship, and creativity!

Lunch will be provided!

Cost of this class is $75 and includes one yard of wool and all the dyes for the day, citric acid, and lunch!
